Clearaudio Symphony MC phono cartridge

Postby Omegaspeedy » Fri Jun 03, 2011 6:44 pm

What do you guys think Clearaudio cartridges? This one looks interesting and wonder how it would compete with the Benz Glider or Wood? It has a Boron cantilever and exotic profile stylus and 24K gold coils so to me its up to standard with features for the price. Wonder if Clearaudio know their business with cart making?

They certainly look the business, James. There seems to be a lot of happy Clearaudio cartridge owners out in the big wide web!

Yip that's it, looks like a good price even if it is old stock. Have you picked up the Ace yet? If you want a hand mounting it give me a yell.

Cheers James.

Thanks James, I think it may need spacers so I'll probably take the TT in for the fitting (in two weeks, after my next pay day!). But I will need a hand listening to it, so you'll have first refusal! ;)

Sweet Andrew congrats on the cartridge. It will be wicked! I see you got the Low output, and the red looks very cool. The Dino will work great with it and I'm looking forward to having a listen. I just joined the 'now I'm even more poor club' and bought the Clearaudio Symphony which will be here on Wed or Thursday. A bit of a gamble but at that price I'm sure it will sound OK :) Touching wood!

Clearaudio have been around the analogue hi fi world for a fair while now James and have made some very fine cartridges and TT's. If the cartridge has sympathetic synergy with the TT/Arm I reckon you wont be disappointed.

It'll be a looooong weekend and the couriers take a million years! I just hope it performs. There doesn't seem to be much on the net about it and I don't know what to think about that. Time will tell I guess. I just hope it makes music and isn't cold and analytical. A bit of warmth and a slightly forward lower-mid-bass is what I'm after! Fingers crossed.

Warmth and slightly f/wd low mid?

Sir Andy might agree that this is what a Rega P3/24 w/ Exact cart brings to the party.
Plus groove factor in bucket loads.

Lovin my Rega set up right now and have been for nearly 4 years now.
Longest time, I think, I've stuck with any one component.

Good stuff! The Rega is a great deck and there's a reason so many guys have them. They perform very well!

The reason I mentioned the Warmth and slightly forward low/mid is that seems to me to be the main element that holds the music together and expresses the rhythm and tempo.
