Howdy.
Anyone here using a Leica D-Lux 5?
Thoughts/impressions?
Thinking of this camera as my next digi-compact that will last me a good 5+ years.
TIA.
Leica D-Lux 5, any users?

Re: Leica D-Lux 5, any users? It's a Leica, so you know it's going to be good. Having said that it's very heavily based on the Panasonic LX5 and Photo & Video list the D-Lux5 at $1355, the LX5 at $725. I don't think it's $600+ better. I do believe (but you need to check) that the D-Lux 5 comes with Lightroom, but that can be had for as little as $155 with a student ID.

Re: Leica D-Lux 5, any users?Thanks movingstill.
I bought the Leica. Yes, it has Lightroom whereas the Panny didn't. But the Leica also has less noise on low light photos. And I figured the resale value will be a bit higher than the Panny so all in all, the Leica it was. And very happy with it too. naim nac282/HC/nap250, naim dac, naim cd5xs, naim nat 03, rega p3/24/naim stageline. focal utopia scala
Re: Leica D-Lux 5, any users?Congrats on your new camera - no-one ever regretted buying a Leica, I'm sure! And for the retail price of Lightroom you've got a great package. (I use Lightroom almost exclusively for my photos)
I'd be interested to hear your impressions of the Leica once you've used it a bit. Lounge: Rega Planar 3/Rega Elys, Pro-Ject Phono Box II, Naim CD3.5, Naim Nait 5, Royd Apex, dpa 'The Power'.

Re: Leica D-Lux 5, any users?I'm also keen to hear more about the Leica's performance once you've had a chance to get to know it.
Lightroom is the king of the RAW editors IMHO. After I did a full day course on using it, I never went back to Photoshop.
Re: Leica D-Lux 5, any users?Loving the D-Lux 5!
Super bright f2 lens so usually no need for a flash, even indoors. Minimal shutter delay; it's as quick as the old film cameras. For me it does everything I need in a camera so while it wasn't cheap, long term the cost will be long forgotten. naim nac282/HC/nap250, naim dac, naim cd5xs, naim nat 03, rega p3/24/naim stageline. focal utopia scala
