Yep it's true - Nikon has joined the ranks of hybrid camera makers with the 1 system:

I'm fiddling with a V1 and a J1 at the moment and they're pretty darn cool. They'll shoot at 10fps easy and can even manage 30 or 60fps. Full review coming soon(ish).

Do it! You know you want to. The modern digital camera is getting to be truly awesome. My 2005 vintage Nikon D200 is feeling like it was designed in 1887...

I actually really do want to. I just need to kick this darned hifi habit and free up some cash......... :cry:

I hear you mate - I've been muttering about upgrading my olde worlde Nikon D200 for a D700 but the loot involved made my head spin and I always seemed to spend it on hi-fi gear instead.

When I get settled again, I'll probably look at upgrading my speakers - that model has been improved, fettled, tweaked and superseded many times since I got mine, which puts any camera buying on hold, again :roll:
