Valves in chain store HTIB?

Samsung's latest Blu-ray HTIB (Home Theatre In a Box) features a couple of valves, used in a preamplifier stage driving a "digital" power amp. The top of the range iPod speaker system uses them as well.

Cool? Crazy? Wankery?

In a bizarre twist, the product shots of the DA-E750 iPod speaker system on the media CD show some brand name valves which one would presume are of decent quality, not the made in-house numbers I expected....will verify this when the review unit arrives.
