November 25, 2010

Any audio company out there with even one eye on the future is getting into the external DAC market, even the holdouts are seeing the potential. Hence the new Rega DAC, which is available internationally, although we may not see stock in NZ until the New Year.

Key features include

16, 20 and 24-bit at 32kHz to 192kHz digital to analogue conversion with five user selectable digital filters

Two co-ax inputs, two Toslink optical inputs and a USB input

The input stage comprises of a Wolfson digital receiver with a high stability low jitter clock

Jitter is minimised by synchronously clocking the digital data with our receiver PLL.

A pair of parallel-connected Wolfson WM8742 DACs, driven via a buffer stage (similar to the configuration used in Rega’s flagship Isis CD player)

Discrete output amplifier with differential multiple feedback filter

Housed in a custom steel & aluminium case
