MISSION LOUDSPEAKERS’ NEW modular EX800 speaker system is now available in NZ. This new range from Mission is designed to offer buyers a choice of standmount, floorstanding and centre speakers to suit stereo and home theatre environments. The curved cabinet construction was inspired by Mission’s Elegante series of speakers and the design team was led by renowned speaker designer Peter Comeau.
The system is made up of the following components:
EX800BZ โ This is a two-way bass reflex ported standmount speaker module, which can be used as a dedicated standmount or placed onto the EX800SZ module to create a full range floorstander with a frequency response down to 45Hz. The drivers are two 165mm Paramid bass/mid woofers and a 25mm silk dome tweeter. RRP per pair is $3999
EX800SZ โ This is the bass module, pictured under the BZ model to extend the bottom end. Its single powered driver is a 165mm Paramid type loaded using two 165mm auxiliary bass radiators. RRP per pair $3999
EX800CZ โ this is the matching centre speaker for home theatre use. It features the same driver complement as the standmount model. RRP $2299
Mission claims that separating the low bass power section from the stand mount offers lower intermodulation distortion, resulting in increased clarity through the midrange and treble. While Mission does supply a smaller rear option, the local agents are recommending using the EX800BZ all around to match the drivers through the entire system, including the centre speaker. Only the matt real-wood veneer Zebrawood finish will be imported. Our review set of EX800BZ and EX800SZ arrives this week…
