NAIM AUDIO’S NEW DAC-V1 and NAP100 power amplifier were announced at CES in January, and named one of the stars of CES 2013. Theyโll be available in NZ soon.
The DAC-V1 has been designed from the ground up to cater to music-lovers who use a computer as their main source of music; these users will often choose to spurn physical media altogether in favour of downloads. The DAC-V1 allows them to play back their audio files at up to 24bit/384kHz resolution, but itโs also a remote controlled digital preamplifier with five S/PDIF digital inputs, a volume control and a high quality headphone facility (Naimโs research indicates an increasing number of computer audio listeners are spending a significant amount of time listening through headphones).
The matching NAP 100 power amplifier delivers 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms and together with the DAC-V1, makes up a compact, disc-free audio system.
Available from Naim dealers as of March.
DAC-V1 RRP: $2950
NAP 100: RRP $1825
