Perreaux releases new amp

January 24, 2022

After frustrating Covid-related delays legendary Kiwi hi-fi company Perreaux finally releases its much-anticipated 200iX integrated amplifier.

โ€When Perreaux founder Peter Perreaux announced the release of the first Perreaux GS 2002 integrated amplifier in 1974 he laid the foundation stone for a hi-fi brand synonymous with strength, reliability and longevity,” says the brand’s new CEO Edwin Nieman.

“Built tough and fully featured – the compact yet versatile stereo amplifier quickly established Perreaux as a manufacturer of high-quality, hand-made, precision audio products. Today, almost half a century later; the Perreaux team are again both excited and proud to officially announce the release of our latest integrated hi-fi amplifier: the stylish and powerful Perreaux 200iX.

“Hand-crafted in Dunedin, New Zealand and available in any colour of your heart’s desire – or black! – the 200iX is a 200 watt per channel, stereo integrated amplifier and features a host of analogue and digital audio connections, remote control iOS or Android app, and high-resolution audio streaming capability.

“With an onboard, integrated 24 bit, 384k, SABRE Pro 9038 DSD Digital Audio Converter (DAC) the 200iX is capable of playing high-resolution digital files from your computer or streaming Bluetooth audio directly from your smartphone or tablet. In addition, it features a world-class Perreaux MM/MC phono preamplifier module for connection of a moving-coil or moving-magnet turntable. And for those times when music canโ€™t be shared, the 200iX includes the legendary class A Perreaux SXH2 headphone amplifier – capable of effortlessly powering headphones rated up to 600 Ohms.

“Additionally, features include – Low Z impedance mode – capable of powering 1-2 Ohm speaker loads, high-contrast OLED Digital display, Home Theatre loop input and AES EBU digital audio connectivity.

“An optional rack mounting kit is also available. The 200iX is available, hand painted and finished in any colour. Simply provide a colour sample (digital reference image or CMS colour chart number) to us and your 200iX will be colour matched and painted to order.”
